The International Academy of Sports Science and Technology (AISTS) has linked up with Tsukuba International Academy of Sports, which is managing the delivery of education programmes for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Swiss-based AISTS today welcome Hideki Niwa, Japanese State Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, for talks on possible areas of further collaboration.

The areas identified were the fight against doping, improved governance of sport administrations, volunteering solutions for the high demands driven by major sporting events, and the management of emerging technologies in sport.

During the discussion on technology and legacy, Niwa highlighted the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games, where all Japanese households were equipped with televisions.

"The Games in 1964 transformed Japan, in 2020 we will again equip all households with new high definition television technology," he said.

As part of the link-up between the two organisations, the AISTS is putting on a seminar in the Japanese capital Tokyo next month on the organisation and management of sports events.

Sports managers from the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee are expected to be among those at the event.
