The Britons dominated the match from start to finish, opening up an 8-0 lead within the first five minutes of play before going in 16-4 up at the end of the first quarter.

With defending champions Germany struggling to score, George Bates continued to impress for the underdogs, helping them to a 31-11 lead come halftime.

Only in the final quarter did Germany begin to find their rhythm, clawing together an 8-0 run to make the score respectable.

It was too little, too late for the Germans, however, as Britain marched to their first European title in 10 years, having previously claimed the trophy in Malle, Belgium.

The bronze medal encounter between reigning bronze medallists Turkey and Italy proved a much tighter affair, with just one point separating the two sides.

It was the Italians who came out on top come the final buzzer, securing a 51-50 victory in a match that saw the lead change an incredible 10 times.

Filippo Carossino was the tide turner for the winners as he recorded a match-high point tally of 20 en route to victory.

In the classification games, France beat Israel 71-32 to secure fifth, while hosts Spain defeated Poland 55-34 to claim seventh.
