Amitabh Bachchan is sponsoring two shooting athletes ©AFP/Getty ImagesBollywood star Amitabh Bachchan is sponsoring the training and coaching of two shooting athletes for this year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow the Asian Games in Incheon.

The actor, a United Nations Ambassador for the Girl Child initiative, is supporting Indian 10 metre air rifle competitors Ayonika Paul and Pooja Ghatkar as part of the Medals4India campaign from the Olympic Gold Quest programme, with the ultimate goal being to ensure the pair are medal contenders at Rio 2016. 

Both athletes are already showing promising form, with Ghatkar clinching gold at the Asian Air Gun Championship in Kuwait City in March and Paul claiming her maiden international medal as a senior shooter when she took bronze at an International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup event in Slovenian city Maribor.

India is sending 121 athletes to compete in the six sports of swimming, athletics, boxing, hockey, weightlifting and shooting at Glasgow 2014, where the squad is aiming for a third place finish in the overall medal tally.

Meanwhile, the nation is targeting fifth place overall at Incheon 2014, due to take place from September 19 to October 4.
