Clark partnered Donna Kellogg to European mixed double success in 2008, as well as claiming a mixed doubles silver with Kellogg and a men's doubles silver with Robert Blair at the 2006 World Championships.

The 36-year-old has also represented Great Britain at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games and holds the record of nine consecutive men's doubles victories at the English National Championships between 2002 and 2009.

Clark will join former partner Robertson in promotion and commentary duties on the newly-launched National Badminton League (NBL) which is set to get underway in October.

Clark and Robertson won England's first international Superseries title when they lifted the men's doubles at the 2009 Singapore Open and both went on to make 100 appearances for England.

"I have remained closely involved in badminton since retirement and I am passionate about the development of the sport," said Clark, who also has two silver and four bronze medals from Commonwealth Games.

"So I am delighted to be appointed a Badminton England ambassador and continue that work in this capacity.

"It is an honour and a privilege."

The NBL is aimed at attracting new and regular sports fans and growing the profile of badminton and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports from October to April next year.

It will consist of six franchised teams featuring the best British players and new, emerging talent, as well as some of the best European and international stars.

Commenting on Clark's appointment, chief executive of Badminton England, Adrian Christy, said: "Anthony enjoyed a fine playing career and he still cares passionately about our sport.

"He is the ideal role model for the next generation of players and someone who can inspire people of all ages to play badminton.

"It is vitally important to make sure our former stars have a role to play in passing on their knowledge and enthusiasm.

"Anthony's experience means he is perfectly placed to do that.

"He will be an ideal standard bearer for badminton."
