March 17 - Taishan Sports Industry Group has become an official licensee to AIBA ©Taishan Sports Industry GroupThe international Boxing Association (AIBA) has announced Chinese firm Taishan Sports Industry Group as an official licensee to the world governing body.

Under the new agreement, the Shandong-based company will provide boxing rings and gloves for AIBA competitions, including the AIBA Open Boxing (AOB), World Series of Boxing (WSB) and AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) events.

Founded in 1978, Taishan Sports Industry Group has grown to become one of China's largest sports equipment firms and employs more than 2,000 people.

As well boxing, the firm has contracts in place with a range of other sports including gymnastics, judo, athletics and wrestling and was one of the largest suppliers at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Commenting on the new agreement, signed at AIBA headquarters in Lausanne, AIBA President C K Wu said: "We are delighted to have signed this agreement with Taishan Sports Industry Group and we look forward to our future working relationship."
