Kelsey Rocque led her team to a 6-4 victory over South Korea at the Championships in Flims, Switzerland.

Canada last won the title at the very same town in 2003, and have now chalked up nine women's World Junior Curling Championship titles.

The beaten Korean team had qualified for their first ever Championships - having only played in 2006 when they hosted it and so automatically qualified.

They were in contention throughout the gold medal match, holding a 3-2 lead after the sixth end.

The decisive blow came in the eighth end when captain Kyeong-Ae Kim took out a Canadian stone with her last, but left two other Canadian stones sitting on the outer ring at opposite ends of the house to allow Canada a steal of two points and a 6-3 lead.

Rocque, who won gold with team-mates Keely Brown, Taylor McDonald and Claire Tully, said: "They are a very strong team.

"She made a clutch shot in the ninth end and we knew it would be right down to the bitter end with them - it was a well-played game."

She added: "For sure, it'd be great to come back but it's a long road. We'll just soak it all in now and see how it works out next year."

Canada's women and men both won Olympic gold in the Sochi Olympics last month.

The men's Junior title was won by Switzerland, who almost let a 6-2 lead after six ends slip.

Scotland scored in ends seven, nine and 10, but they came just shy of overhauling their opponents, who won 6-5.

It is the first tournament win for Switzerland's men since 2010, when the also won at home in Flims.

Norway won the bronze by beating Canada 7-5.
