Kellerman, currently ranked number one in Australia and 17 in the world, saw off the challenge of compatriots Dylan Alcott, David Coulson and Aussie number two Ben Weekes to claim a place in the final.

Miki came into the final having only dropped two games in his three matches on the way to the decider, and he made a positive start against Kellerman, racing into a one set lead in no time, taking the opener 6-1.

However, Kellerman regrouped after that initial setback and cheered on by the home crowd, he took the second set 6-3 before making a crucial break in the third to claim the title 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

"I'm really happy with my start in 2014, I've been training really hard for the Australian summer series and the work is paying off," said Kellerman, who bagged the second ITF 2 Series title of his career.

The Sydney native, who competed at London 2012, secured his first career title at last year's Wrocław Cup in Poland.

Despite reaching the final of the singles competition, Kellerman and Miki had to make do with the runners-up spot in the doubles event as they lost out to Weekes and Keegan Oh-Chee 6-2, 6-2 in the final.

On the women's side, South Korean Ju-Yeon Park and Japan's Miho Nijo cruised through to the final to reinforce their status as the top two seeds in Brisbane.

And it was top seed Park who eventually prevailed in a keenly contested final overcoming Nijo 6-2, 6-7 (7), 6-4, to claim the second ITF 2 Series win of her career outside of South Korea.

Park and Nijo teamed up in the doubles competition also, but unlike Kellerman and Miki, they managed to claim victory as they saw off the challenge of Australians Sarah Calati and Janel Manns.

Next up is the Sydney International Open at the Sydney Olympic Park, which is due to get underway on Friday (January 10).
