October 21 - Samsung Canada has launched campaign to support Canadian athletes at Sochi 2014Samsung Canada has announced the launch of the #BringItHome campaign which will see Samsung Galaxy Team athletes receiving messages of support and motivation during the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games from friends and fans across the country through the Notes from Home innovation.

As part of the #BringItHome programme, Samsung Notes will be touring the country with Samsung brand ambassadors leading up to and during Sochi 2014, allowing Canadians from all corners of the country to send personal messages or 'Notes from Home' to the competing athletes using smartphones or tablet devices.

"The goal of Samsung's Olympic partnership is to heighten national pride from coast-to-coast," said James Politeski, President of Samsung Canada.

"We know that the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games will be the most mobile games to date.

"Fans will be calling, texting, watching and sharing Olympic Games stories on Samsung devices while following the athletes every move; through our Notes From Home programme, thousands of personal messages from Canadians will be supporting our athletes as they represent Canada."

As part of the initiative, Samsung, which has been an Olympic sponsor since Seoul 1988 and a worldwide Olympic partner since the Nagano 1998 Olympic Winter Games, is creating an online digital hub accessible on multiple platforms that will provide a one-stop-shop for the public to find out the latest news on Canadian athletes in Sochi and share how they are celebrating any success.

Five of Canada's top athletes will be engaging with Canadians through the Notes from Home programme, including ice hockey World Championship silver medallist Steven Stamkos, three-time Olympic ice hockey champion Hayley Wickenheiser, world champion speed skater Michael Gilday, Olympic bronze medal speed skater Marie-Eve Drolet and Turin 2006 ice sledge hockey gold medal winner Greg Westlake.

"Today is another positive day for sport in Canada," said Marcel Aubut, President of the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC).

"It is wonderful that Samsung has committed to sponsoring Steven, Hayley, Greg, Marie-Eve and Michael.

"This support will go a long way in ensuring our exceptional Canadian athletes continue to pursue their Olympic dreams."

In addition to the Notes from Home campaign, Samsung is also launching the Samsung Mobilers Programme which will recruit a number of Canadian fans to travel to Sochi 2014 and share their Games experience while they cheer on the athletes.
