September 15 - Jordanne Whiley (right) celebrates her PTR Championship win over compatriot and doubles partner Lucy ShukerFor the fourth time in five years, British players completed a clean sweep of titles at the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Wheelchair Tennis Championships in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

There were wins for Gordon Reid and Jordanne Whiley in the singles, while Reid and Marc McCarroll, and Whiley and Lucy Shuker took the men's and women's doubles titles.

The British monopolisation of titles at Hilton Head began as Reid and McCarroll claimed their third men's doubles title at the Championships, following victories in 2010 and 2011, after they cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 win over Japan's Takuya Miki and Ben Weekes of Australia.

The victory was Reid's fifth successive doubles title at the PTR Championships after he partnered current British number three David Phillipson and American Steve Welch to victory in 2009 and 2012 respectively.

Shuker and Whiley followed up their doubles success of 2009 and 2010 with a win over home duo Shelby Baron and Emmy Kaiser on a scoreline of 6-0, 3-6, 6-1, which also means Shuker has now won five doubles title in-a-row at the South Carolina event, adding to wins in 2011 with compatriot Louise Hunt and last year with Katharina Kruger of Germany.

Reid and McCarroll then faced each other in the men's singles decider and Shuker and Whiley competed for the women's singles crown.

Both Reid and McCarroll came into the final in confident form, not only due to their success in the doubles, but they also had been impressive in the singles competition.

World number six Reid had dropped just six games en route to the decider while McCarroll had recorded an impressive win over second seed Miki in the semi-final.

However, it was the man from Scotland who prevailed at Hilton Head once again as a hard-fought 7-5, 6-3 win over British number two McCarroll, saw the 21-year-old secure his fifth straight singles title to remain unbeaten at the event since 2009, while also bagging his tenth title overall.

"It's a great feeling to win another two titles here this year and to have won them both five years in a row," said Reid, who reached his second Grand Slam singles semi-final of the year at the US Open in New York, earlier this month.

"It was a tough final today.

"Me and Marc know each other's games well, so it's always difficult to play against each other, but I'm very happy with the result and it's a nice ending to this US tour."

Shuker was looking to win her fourth women's singles title in five years as she squared up to Whiley.

However, it was the 21-year-old from Birmingham who made the better start, taking the first set 6-2 and despite a much closer second set, Shuker had no answer as she went down 5-7, handing a first singles win at Hilton Head to Whiley, who gained some revenge for losing out in the 2009 decider to her compatriot.

"I'm so happy," said Whiley.

"I played a great first set today and managed to hold on and it's my fourth title here at the tournament after the three doubles titles with Lucy.

"This tournament has proved so successful for the Brits in recent years and I'm really happy to have been a part of it all.

"It's the second time I've won both singles and doubles titles in a tournament in the USA since May and it's my third win over Lucy in four matches this season, so it's a great end to this latest tour."
