The two teams remain the only unbeaten squads at the event and booked a showdown against each other after the US defeated Russia in the first semi-final before Canada crushed the Czech Republic in the second.

The US were pushed hard in their semi-final as they defeated Russia 2-1 to advance to move a step closer to retaining their title

"It wasn't a pretty win," said US head coach Jeff Sauer.

"We had to work for it.

"They kind of went after our weaknesses."

Canada's path to the final proved much easier as they cruised to a 5-0 win over the Czech Republic, with captain Greg Westlake scoring twice and the superb Marc Dorion claiming a gold and an assist.

"It's a great feeling," Dorion explained.

"Every time we come to a tournament like the World Championships, it's our goal to get into that gold-medal game.

"We're very happy and very excited."

Canada will face the US for the gold on Saturday (April 20) straight after Russia meet the Czech Republic in the bronze medal game, with all four having qualified for the Sochi 2014 Paralympics at the event by reaching the semi-final.

But first up tomorrow, Italy will face Norway in the fifth-place game with the winner taking the final Sochi 2014 qualification spot available at this Championship.

Prior to that, host nation Korea will take on Sweden in the seventh-place game.
