Kelly-GallagherMarch 4 - Britain's visually impaired skier Kelly Gallagher says she and guide Charlotte Evans are targeting a podium spot at Sochi 2014 after taking two silvers and a bronze medal in the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Alpine Skiing World Championships in La Molina, Spain.

In their most successful competition to date, Gallagher and Evans won silvers in the both the super combined and super-G events as well as bronze in the downhill to establish themselves as major contenders at Sochi 2014.

The 27-year-old Gallagher, who became Northern Ireland's first ever Winter Paralympian at Vancouver 2010, claimed she is delighted with the performance in La Molina with just over a year to go to the Games in Russia.

"I'm really happy," Gallagher told

"We know where we are at now skiing against some of the best girls in the world such as the Slovakians and the Russians.

"We're excited as we know what we need to do.

"We need to go back, train and go faster.

"We're really working on our confidence and it's really enjoyable.

"All of our training, which has been really hard, appears to be paying off."

Following Vancouver 2010, Gallagher teamed up with guide Evans, a qualified ski coach, who had been out of the sport for a year after snapping a cruciate ligament in 2009.

In their first major competition together, the 2011 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Sestriere, the duo qualified for two events and won medals in both.

Evans is delighted with her and Gallagher's success so far and believes it may just be the start of great things for the two.

"It's going pretty well," she said.

"We always want to do our best and the potential has always been there.

"I think what we've achieved so far gives us confidence ahead of Sochi and something to look forward to and aim for."
