ReidScheffers 2October 28 - Maikel Scheffers of the Netherlands made it fine double as he lifted both the men's singles and doubles titles at the Nottingham Indoor Wheelchair Tennis Tournament.

The 20-year-old Dutch star (pictured right), who is currently ranked number two in the world, got the better of defending champion Gordon Reid (pictured left) in a repeat of last year's final as he won in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 to collect his third Nottingham Indoor title following wins in 2007 and 2009.

But British number one Reid finished the tournament on a high as he teamed up with Scheffers in the men's doubles final where the top seeds took the title against British pair Marc McCarroll and David Phillipson with a comprehensive 6-1, 6-1 win.

"After last year I was expecting another tough match," said Scheffers, who narrowly missed out on a medal at the London 2012 Paralympics after reaching the semi-finals.

"Gordon has a game that I find pretty tough to play against but today I started well and even when he came back in the second set I kept my composure to manage to win it in straight sets,"

Despite losing in the final, Reid admitted he was delighted to team up with Scheffers to take victory in the doubles event.

"It's our second title together from the only two tournaments we've played as partners, so we're delighted to stay unbeaten," said Reid.

"We made a good start today and managed to sustain it and put in a solid performance and it's great to finish with a title."

Meanwhile in the women's singles final, world number five Jiske Griffioen of the Netherlands got the better of Germany's world number three Sabine Ellerbrock from Germany to claim a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win.

In the quad singles round-robin event, Britain's Andy Lapthorne won the title with an unbeaten record, securing his fourth win out of four with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over compatriot Antony Cotterill.

Finally, the quad doubles crown was won by Cotterill and Adam Field as the pair defeated fellow Brits Richard Green and Ian Payne 6-2, 6-2.
