Paralympic Ball_June_29June 30 - Plans have been unveiled for the first ever Paralympic Ball by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the British Paralympic Association (BPA) with the event set to be a spectacular fundraising evening held on September 5 during London 2012.

Staged at the luxurious Grosvenor House Hotel located in Park Lane, the Ball is designed to be a celebration of Paralympians, their achievements and the Paralympic Movement.

The event will also raise funds for both the IPC and the BPA.

It will begin at 7pm and feature a line-up of live entertainment as well as a drinks reception, action from the Paralympic Games, an auction, a four course dinner and after-party.

A host of celebrities from the world of sport and showbiz are set to be in attendance alongside the President Sir Philip Craven and BPA President Tim Reddish.

"The Paralympic Ball will be an inspirational celebration of the Paralympic Movement and our Paralympians with the ultimate aim of generating funds to get more people active in sport and potentially create future Paralympians," said Sir Philip, who is also an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and a London 2012 Board member.

"Together with the BPA we hope to take the energy of the London 2012 Paralympic Games and create a spectacular celebration evening that leaves a lasting legacy for the Paralympic Movement in Great Britain and around the world."

BPA chief executive Tim Hollingsworth also welcomed the announcement.

"The Paralympic Ball will be a fantastic opportunity for us to celebrate the Paralympic Games and there can surely be no better time to hold it than during London 2012, which looks set to be the biggest and best Paralympics yet," he said.

"It will undoubtedly be a great event and I am delighted that the BPA can support it in partnership with the IPC."

To coincide with the announcement, Worldwide Olympic Partner P&G have been confirmed as the first official partner of the event.

"P&G is delighted to be an official partner of the Paralympic Ball to celebrate the power of the Paralympic Games," said Nathan Homer, the Olympic and Paralympic director at P&G UK and Ireland.

"The ambition, talent and sheer determination of the ParalympicsGB athletes are truly inspirational.

"In addition to honouring these world-class athletes, we're also using our voice to recognise their nearest and dearest - like their mums - who have supported them in achieving their dreams."
