The men's squad will be headed by Simon Munn (pictured above, far right and below, right) and Jon Pollock (pictured above, far left), who have the experience of eight previous Paralympic Games between them, along with four debutants in the 12-man selection – Ian Sagar, Dan Highcock, Ghaz Choudry and Matt Sealy.

Abdi Jama, Matt Byrne, Peter Finbow, Ade Orogbemi, Jon Hall and Terry Bywater, who formed part of the bronze medal winning British team at the Beijing Paralympics four years' ago, were also selected.

Coach Murray Treseder, whose squad won silver at the BT Paralympic World Cup last weekend, said: "We believe we have selected the strongest possible team to bring success in London 2012.

"We have been pleased with the progress we have made in the last few months and we know we have a lot of upside in our team structure work.

"It's also great to include four players in the squad who will be making their Paralympic debut."

Delighted with his selection to ParalympicsGB, Munn said: "It is definitely a special achievement for me to be able to compete in my sixth Games...hopefully with the support of the British public we can be a real force to be reckoned with in London.

"It's a real honour to have been picked for the team to compete at London 2012 and I'm also thrilled for the others who have been selected for the team.

"I feel for those who have just missed out as we have all worked and trained especially hard for the past four years to be there."

The men will face Japan, Poland, Colombia, Germany and Canada, runners up at Beijing 2008.

As well as medalling at Beijing 2008, they took home bronze from Athens 2004, and hope to reach the final this time on home soil.

Meanwhile, Clare Strange (pictured top, second right), who has played in three Paralympics previously, is part of the women's squad, as is Helen Freeman (pictured top, second left), who made her Games debut in Beijing four years' ago aged just 18.

Amy Conroy (pictured above, centre), Laurie Williams and Maddie Thompson were also selected by women's coach Garry Peel, with the squad completed by Sarah McPhee, Louise Sugden, Helen Turner, Natasha Davies, Sarah Grady, Judith Hamer and Caroline Maclean.

"It was a really tough decision and we left it right until the last game at the BT Paralympic World Cup on Saturday [where GB finished fourth] to make the final choice," said Peel.

"It's really tough when you have 15 girls who all deserve to go but we can only take 12 and we feel we've got the right 12."

ParalympicsGB Chef de Mission Craig Hunter said: "We have real pedigree among the wheelchair basketball teams that we are announcing today, both within the men's team who have historically been successful, and within the women's team who have worked incredibly hard over the last four years.

"Wheelchair Basketball is always such a popular sport at the Paralympic Games and I am sure London will be no different.

"I would really encourage the British public to get their tickets for this sport because it is so fast and exciting to watch."

The women face Australia, bronze medallists at the 2008 Games, Canada, the Netherlands and Brazil in the group stage of London 2012, and will be hoping to improve on the eighth place finish they achieved at Beijing.
