Richardson Stadium in Kingston, Ontario, hosted a thrilling final of the 58th Canada Life Vanier Cup on Saturday as the Montreal Carabins took advantage of their role as favourites to defeat British Columbia's UBC Thunderbirds of 16-9.

The General Assembly of the Finnish Student Sports Federation (OLL) has chosen Mr. Mio Kortelainen from Laurea University of Applied Sciences as President for the year 2024. They also elected the Board for 2024. The meeting brought together representatives from student unions and university sports services, both in Tampere and remotely.

The occasion is special and represents a significant step forward in promoting excellence in university sports, fostering cooperation, and strengthening the global university sports movement.

The memory of that special summer moment still gives Ugandan athlete Knight Aciru goosebumps. This year in Chengdu, the 25-year-old became the third female Ugandan student to win a medal at the FISU World University Games, taking silver in the 800m final with a time of 2:04.34.

Three beautiful cities are vying to host the 2028 European University Games: the Spanish city of Granada, the Turkish city of Manisa, and the Croatian city of Split. They are in a fierce competition to convince EUSA (European University Sports Association) to choose them.

As part of the recent FISU General Assembly, the 8th FISU Gender Equality Awards were presented in Geneva. The annual Awards consist of the Gender Equality Project Award and the Gender Equality Champion Award. 

Established in 1965 as the championship trophy of the Canadian College Bowl, the Vanier Cup was initially an invitational event and determines the annual college football champion in the country. The final will be played in Kingston, Ontario, on Saturday 25th, after the semi-finals have been played.

Leonz Eder was unanimously elected President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) at the successful 38th FISU General Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. 

FISU has unveiled the second edition of the e-book Good Practices for Healthy Campuses. The publication comprises a compilation of the top 200 practices drawn from institutions deserving of the prestigious Healthy Campus label.

Over the past four days, Bochum, Germany, has been the venue for a knowledge exchange, transferring insights from the FISU World University Games in Chengdu to the upcoming organizing committees of Rhine-Ruhr and Chungcheong. "Knowledge transfer is extremely important," stated Jing Zhao, Director of the FISU Summer Games. 

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) is currently conducting its 38th General Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, with 164 member associations from around the world invited to the most significant meeting of the year.

The women's team representing the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (University of Monterrey, Mexico) secured the gold, while Lithuania's Vytautas Magnus University did the same in the men's category.

The TAFISA Congress, held from 1-5 November in the German city of Düsseldorf, brought together sports organizations, experts and stakeholders from around the world to discuss the theme “Sport for All: More together than ever”.

The Qatar University Sports Federation (QCSF) announced that the necessary preparations have been successfully completed to host the FISU University 3x3 Basketball World Cup 2023, starting from November 10th in Doha, the capital of the Qatari emirate.

The Paulista University of Brazil fulfilled the predictions that placed it as a favorite to win the FISU Soccer World Cup. The same forecasts placed Ukraine as a finalist and therefore it was a very close match that had to be resolved in the penalty shootout.
