Members of the Executive Committee of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) had their final meeting of the year, where a review of the successful year took place, and preliminary approval was granted to nine universities as Associate Members.

Registration is now open for next year's European University Games, which will take place in Debrecen and Miskolc from 12-24 July 2024. It will be the seventh edition of the event and the first to be held in Hungary (the 2026 edition will be held in Salerno, Italy).

From February 2024, FISU will have one more sport in its program, Ski Mountaineering. This decision was made this week with the formal approval of the organization after receiving the green light in July, following a meeting in Chengdu, China.

Professor Dr. Ashraf Sobhy won the award for Best Sports Service in Africa at the African Sports Awards organized by the Association of African Sports Confederations (UCSA). This recognition was bestowed in acknowledgment of his contribution to the Best Sports Service in Africa.

The first call for proposals for the BRAINSTORM project launched by the Organising Committee of the World University Winter Games, to be held in Turin from 13 to 23 January 2025, has been already closed. Recently, an International Conference on Sustainability and Legacy in Sport was held in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, where challenges and perspectives were discussed. The event was conducted under the patronage of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the European University Sports Association (EUSA), among other significant organizations.

For the first time in the history of the FISU World University Summer Games, Para Sport will be featured in the program of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games, including 3x3 wheelchair basketball.

On November 21st, the "Convento de São Francisco" in Coimbra hosted the largest University Sports Gala organized by the Portuguese Academic Federation of University Sports (FADU), where medalists from the World University Games and the European University Championships, among other important awards, were honored.

Debrecen-Miskolc will host the 7th edition of the European Universities Games from 12-24 July 2024, with over 4500 athletes expected to compete in the largest university sports event in Hungary since 1965. The Hungarian city attended a crucial meeting just before the opening of registrations scheduled for 15 December.
