Crosby winner leaves Canada feeling on top of the world

February 28 - Sidney Crosby (pictured) ensured that Canada won a record 14th gold medal of the Olympics here with a fairytale winner in over-time of the ice hockey final to give his team a 3-2 victory over the United States which sparked amazing scenes of jubilation across the country.




McKeever denied opportunity to make history

February 26 - Brian McKeever (pictured), who had been poised to be the first competitor to take part in both the Winter Olympics and Paralympics, will not compete in the 50 kilometres cross country race on Sunday, Canadian officials announced here tonight.




Bad day for British world champions as Olympic dreams die

February 24 - Britain's last realistic hopes of adding to the Olympic gold medal won by Amy Williams in the skeleton last week disappeared when the curling team led by David Murdoch were defeated in a play-off and the two woman bobsleigh team of Nicola Minichiello and Gillian Cooke crashed.
