FISU launched the World University Championship series in 1963. The first FISU World University Championship took place in Lund in Sweden as the city welcomed the best student handball players of the time.

As single sport competitions, World University Championship events give cities and often universities the chance to host a major international sports event with a minimum cost and complexity.

So far, we have already covered the 2018 WUC Ski Orienteering in Tartu in Estonia and the 2018 WUC Shooting Sport in Kuala Lumpur.

This week we will be reporting on the 2018 WUC Speed Skating in Minsk with daily coverage.
