June 17 - Prospec Sports, a leading specialist in performance hardwood floors and seating for sports facilities, has become the Official Sports Equipment Supplier for the Singapore 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games after signing a sponsorship agreement with the organisers.
The agreement means that Prospec Sports, who regularly install and maintain specialised products specifically targeted at the sports market, will be providing portable floor systems for the sports of badminton, fencing, handball and table tennis, while gymnastics will have a clip floor system installed.
The portable and clip systems from the Junckers range of performance timber floor systems have been used worldwide for a number of global sports events.
Goh Kee Nguan, the chief executive of Singapore 2010, said: "The Junckers portable system, with its ease of installation, is ideal as it meets the demand for a swift and smooth changeover from one sport to another during the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games.
"In addition, Prospec Sports will be dedicating a team of workers to oversee the set-up and to conduct checks throughout the Games to ensure the floor systems are in tip top competition condition."
Richard Ow, the director of Prospec Sports, said: "A proper playing surface is crucial to an athlete’s performance and a poorly designed and installed surface can impede the smooth flow of a game, as well as potentially causing injury.
"As a leading specialist in performance hardwood floors, we are delighted to contribute our part in fitting competition venues to international standards, providing a good playing surface where an athlete’s real abilities are allowed to shine through."
