December 15 - All three cities bidding to host the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games have been put forward by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the final round of voting which will take place early in the New Year.



The IOC Executive Board have confirmed Guadalajara, Mexico, Nanjing, China and Poznan, Poland for the vote at its Session in Vancouver on February 10 after each has had the opportunity to present its bid to the full membership.

Ryszard Grobelny, the Mayor of Poznan, who have run the most high-profile of campaigns out of the three candidates, said: "This is a great day for Poznan.

"We are naturally thrilled that the IOC Executive Board has decided we should be given the opportunity to present our bid to all the IOC members in February.

"We think that the Youth Olympic Games is all about developing talent, something that Poland has always been committed to throughout its history.

"The Youth Olympic Games is our chance to extend this to the whole Olympic Movement and to the youth of the world.

"We look forward to sharing our vision for the Games with the full IOC membership in Vancouver".

The inaugural Summer Youth Olympics will be held in Singapore next year from August 14 to 26 while Innsbruck in Austria will host the first Winter Youth Olympics in 2012.
