October 7 -  Mary Kom (pictured), the four-time world champion and one of India's main hopes for a gold medal at London 2012, has had her three week suspension lifted after she apologised for her "unsporting behaviour" in the National Boxing Championships.

P K Muralidharan Raja, secretary general of the Indian Boxing Federation (IBF), said: "Having considered her achievements and seniority, the temporary suspension till 27 October of Mary Kom has been lifted after she apologised before the jury and the officials this morning."

Kom, representing the All India Police Board (AIPB), lost her temper after losing to Pinky Jingra in the quarter-finals on Monday.

Kom, who was recently awarded with country's highest sports prize - the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna - for her achievements at the international level, lost 1-4 on count back after she finished 15-15 with the 20-year-old in the light-flyweight category.

The judges then decided to award the bout to Jingra.

Kom, a 27-year-old mother of two, then allegedly used "unsporting" language against the judges.

Raja said the IBF Executive Council, comprising himself, vice presidents N S Kichi and Asit Banerjee, senior joint secretary Anil Bohidhar and the technical director of the championship had discussed the situation and revoked the ban following her apology.
