September 25 - India's World Championship bronze medallist Ramesh Kumar (pictured) said today his next target was winning medals in 2010 Commonwealth Games and 2012 London Olympics.

A triumphant Kumar returned home after creating history in the Championship winning the freestyle 74 kg bronze in Denmark yesterday.

It was India's first medal in the men's championship after a gap of 42 years.

Ramesh was given a huge welcome at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

He said: "I have been working hard for the past few years for the World Championships.

"My hard work is getting the results.

"My next target is to win a medal in the 2010 Commonwealth Games as well as in the 2012 London Olympics.

"The most important thing after winning this bronze is that it has inspired me to keep on doing better for the country."

Kumar blamed the long gap between medals on the lack of facilities in India.

He said: "If we get the facilities and sponsors the cricketers are getting, the wrestlers can make ripples in the Olympics and world championships."

Kumar won the bronze medal after beating Alexandr Burca of Moldova on technical points after the repechage round ended with both the wrestlers tied at the score of 7-7.
