altNOVEMBER 17 - THE International Boxing Association (AIBA) plans to use the Women's World Championships beginning in India tomorrow to press for inclusion in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and the 2012 Olympics in London.

AIBA secretary-general Caner Doganeli said in Delhi today: "The number of countries taking part in women's boxing is increasing and we will show everyone how women's boxing is more popular than men's."

Around 180 women boxers from 32 nations, including Ukraine, China, Russia, Turkey, hosts India and United States, are taking part in all 13 weight categories in the fourth edition of the event which ends on Thursday.

"We have hosted three successful women's world championships and if included in the Commonwealth Games, the International Olympic Committee will understand how important women's boxing is," said Doganeli.
