The prestigious event in Gold Coast on October 13 and 14 marks the start of the tournament's 2012-2013 campaign and Australia will be looking for its first major sevens win before a home crowd in 10 years.

The competition will take place at the magnificent 27,400-capacity Skilled Park, which will host rugby sevens at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

"Our minds are on the job in the Gold Coast already as we haven't won a tournament on home soil since 2002," said Jenkins (pictured top, holding trophy).

"It is a really big one for us.

"Hopefully we'll get a lot of support up on the Gold Coast and we can deliver our fans a tournament win and start the series on a high."

Australia recently booked its spot in the Rugby Sevens World Cup 2013 in Moscow by winning the recent Oceania Sevens competition.

The Australians will join New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga from the Oceania qualifying pool and Australia head coach Michael O'Connor believes the Gold Coast event will hopefully provide a major stepping stone to the World Cup.

"Now that we've qualified for the World Cup we're setting our sights on the Gold Coast [competition]," O'Connor said.

"It is our home tournament so all our energy is directed at that.

"Having the Oceania Sevens tournament under our belt is good as we're trying to give ourselves the best opportunity for the Gold Coast and we think we will be very competitive there on the first part of our journey to Moscow."
