The hotline, which gives details on the history of university sports and the World University Games, sports programmes, venues and the competition schedule, opens tomorrow and will operate in three languages – Tatar, Russian and English.

The project is aimed in part at helping visitors in the build-up to and duration of the Universiade to enjoy their stay in the city, with details of accommodation, hospitals, cafes and restaurants also available through the helpline.

There will be three World University test events taking place in the next month alone, with the Canoe Sprint Championships next week, the Shooting Championships between September 4 and 9 and the Rowing Championships being held between September 7 and 9.

During those competitions the call centre will be open from 9am to 9pm.

Over 13,500 athletes from 170 nations are expected to compete at the Kazan 2013 Universiade, which is the second largest sports event in the world, behind the Olympic Games.
