Netherlands with_Investec_London_Cup_June_10_2012June 10 - The Netherlands showed why they are world's top-ranked female hockey team when they beat Australia 4-1 in the final of Investec London Cup at the University of Westminster Sport Grounds in Chiswick today.

Decisive finishing was the difference between the two sides.

Maartje Paumen and Kelly Jonker both got on the score sheet to leave them joint top goal scorers for the competition.

Australia had the best of the chances during the opening exchanges but were unable to find the back of the net and it was the Dutch who took the lead through Carlien Dirksie van de Heuvel with seven minutes of the first-half remaining.

A Paumen drag flick doubled the lead early in the second period while two minutes later Jonker squeezed in at the near post to make it 3-0.

The Hockeyroos pulled one back through Georgia Nanscawen but another Paumen drag flick putting the result beyond doubt.

"We had enough chances to score goals but we were just not clinical enough," said Australia's coach Adam Commens.

Germany clinched the bronze medal with a crushing 6-2 victory over South Africa while Britain finished fifth after beating Ireland 3-0 thanks to two goals from Hannah Macleod and a third from Emily Maguire.
