Kate French_11_JuneJune 11 - Britain's Kate French took silver at the Modern Pentathlon European Junior Championships in Hungary when she finished 25 seconds behind the host nation's Sarolta Kovacs, the reigning world junior champion.

French (pictured top) also joined forces with Kerry Prise and Rebecca Wain to collect bronze in the team event at the competition in Székesfehérvár.

Russia won the team competition, with Italy second.

The 21-year-old French, who trains at the Pentathlon GB High Performance Centre at the University of Bath, finished 10th in the individual competition at last year's European Junior Championships.

The latest British successes came just over 24 hours after the British modern pentathlon team for the London 2012 Olympic Games was named.

Kovacs, an athlete who has achieved the London 2012 Olympic qualifying standard, successfully defended her junior European crown to land a record fourth title.
