USA field_hockey_logo_May 11 - USA Field Hockey has announced that tickets are on sale for their 2012 Olympic celebrations on June 23.

The event will take place at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, with athletes, past Olympians and fans all invited to honour and celebrate the women's Olympic hockey team.

"The level of excitement in the room on this evening gives you goose bumps," said Laura Darling, managing director of Olympic and Athlete Development.

"It is the most heart strung event that we run.

"Whether you are a young athlete with an Olympic dream or a family member or friend of one of the sixteen women whose dream becomes a reality on this evening, you will witness a special moment, something you can only fully experience by being there."

Flamingo Express, a highly acclaimed, international touring showband with over 20 years experience, will provide three hours of entertainment.

Following dinner, a meet and greet session, autograph signings and a photo opportunity will all take place.

The Olympic celebration will come at the end of a four game series for the hockey team against their Argentine rivals.

Matches will take place at the University of Virginia, Old Dominion University and the National Training Centre.

The United States field hockey teams will hope to impress in London this summer, but they are not among the world's elite, with best performances coming on home soil in the past.

The men picked up bronze for the only time in Los Angeles in 1932, and the women claimed a sole bronze at the same location in 1984.

Tickets to the Olympic celebration event can be purchased online here.
