badminton_world_superseries_webstieSeptember 28 - The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has announced the launch of their World Superseries Website and its inaugural Media Prizes.

Historical, statistical and other information will be available from http://www.osimbwfwss.com, and the full launch and complete player profiles will be available from the end of this year.

Thomas Lund, the chief operating officer of the BWF, said: "We have envisioned creating an online one-stop information hub for the BWF World Superseries where both the fans and the media all over the world can have a virtual hangout as they follow the series throughout the year.

"As the World Superseries grow in its years and reach, we recognize the need to provide our fans and media with better access to the series.

"In doing so we hope our fans and media will have a more enriching and meaningful experience following the series."

The BWF World Superseries consists of 12 tournaments and was set up in 2007, and OSIM International have become its new title sponsor.

It also now has a two tier concept, with five Premier events with more ranking points and prize money on offer.

The Media Prizes will be on offer to media outlets publishing the best badminton stories, with two story of the year awards being given in 2011, one each in English and Chinese.

Ten prizes based on merit, half for English and half Chinese stories, will also be awarded to journalists who capture the spirit of the World Superseries.

A trophy, certificate, VIP passes and other sponsor prizes will be on offer to the winning journalists and their media agencies, and will also be announced in December.
