Dongsamo_club_members_24-06-11June 24 - Dongsamo, a club for South Korean winter sports enthusiasts, today began a two-week nationwide tour to promote Pyeongchang's bid to host the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Starting at Pyeongchang City Hall, the tour saw the club travel to the Deoksu Palace and other areas of Seoul, where they worked to promote the Winter Games bid using film projections, music, photography and dance.

The club members will now travel to various locations around the country, including all major cities such as Incheon, Daejeon, Busan, Daegu and Ulsa, in a specially designed bus, which is wrapped in images of winter sport.

They will then return to Pyeongchang on July 6, where they will watch the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Host City announcement on television with local residents.

Yang Ho Cho, the Pyeongchang 2018 chairman and chief executive, said: "It makes everyone involved with our bid extremely proud to see the level of public support for Pyeongchang 2018.

"The enthusiasm and spirit shown by the members of the Dongsamo club highlights that Koreans love winter sports and a Winter Games in Pyeongchang will have venues full of cheering fans."

Dongsamo was established in 2003 to help increase the popularity of winter sports in Korea.

There are now currently over 130,000 club members around the nation and they actively serve as ambassadors for Pyeongchang 2018 and additional international winter sport competitions.

Seung-Hwan Kim, Dongsamo Gangwon Branch Chief, said: "Like the rest of the country, we are very supportive of Pyeongchang's bid for the Winter Games.

"We are passionate about winter sports and it would be a great honour for us to welcome the world to Korea in 2018 and give them an amazing Winter Games experience."
