us_olympic_team_logo_07-06-11June 21 - Just a few days into the United States Olympic Committee's (USOC) Join Team USA initiative, its Facebook page has received its one millionth "Like".

As reported by insidethegames, the campaign, which officially kicked-off last Tuesday (June 14) and runs through to July 31, capitalises on the patriotic summer holidays to provide Americans with a multitude of opportunities to support and Join Team USA in preparation for London 2012.

One of the campaign's primary objectives is to drive fan engagement through the US Olympic Team Facebook page.

There are also many other ways that the public can support and Join Team USA, including by attending one of the 350-plus Olympic Day celebrations taking place across the country, cheering for Team USA athletes competing at National Governing Body (NGB) summer sporting events and voting for recipients of six Team USA athlete support grants of $12,000 each.

"Like many non-profit organizations, fundraising is a critical element of our success," said USOC chief executive Scott Blackmun

"The awareness and funds raised during this campaign directly impact Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls in the United States.

"Join Team USA allows fans to get involved and become a part of the team in many valuable ways."
