Martin_ReynoldsApril 11 - Martin Reynolds, the head of marketing for Festivals Edinburgh, has been appointed to be in charge of marketing and advertising for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, it was announced today.

Reynolds has wide experience in the arts having joined Edinburgh Festivals in 2008 from the Sydney Opera House and had previously worked in marketing roles with National Galleries of Scotland and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

At Glasgow he will be responsible for the strategy and image of the 2014 Games, including the launch of the mascot and the tickets programme.

"Martin will be a fantastic addition to our communications and marketing team," said Gordon Arthur, the director of communications and marketing at Glasgow 2014.

"He brings with him a wealth of experience from major events and high profile projects such as Edinburgh Festivals, the National Galleries and the Sydney Opera House, where he has developed an excellent track record in developing audiences and selling tickets.

"These are crucially important areas for the success of Glasgow 2014.

"We can't wait to get him on board."

Reynolds will officially take up his new role on June 13.

"Leading the strategic marketing for Edinburgh's Festivals has been a privilege, but joining the Organising Committee of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games is just too good an opportunity to miss," he said.

"Having delivered major awareness and ticketing campaigns for huge events at home and abroad, I'm looking forward to widely and innovatively promoting the Games, and being part of the team that will get residents and visitors alike supporting and enjoying Scotland's largest ever sporting event."
