A group of 10 countries have been announced for an amputee football tournament at this year's African Para Games in Accra.

The list has been published by the Confederation of African Amputee Football's (CAAF) secretary general Peter Oloo in a letter to organisers, which has been seen by insidethegames.

It follows "wide consultation" with stakeholders as no CAAF international matches have been played on the continent since 2021.

Hosts Ghana have been named alongside Liberia, Angola, Tanzania and Morocco.

Kenya, Cameroon, Uganda, Nigeria and Rwanda complete the line-up.

Angola reached the final of the World Amputee Football Cup in Istanbul in October, losing to hosts Turkey.

Tanzania won the African title in 2021 when CAAF last hosted an event.

The African Para Games is still due to go ahead between September 3 and 12 this year, despite the African Games in Accra being postponed to next year amid a crippling economic crisis in the country and a dispute over marketing rights.

People in the West African nation have witnessed 50 per cent inflation, growing debt and a sharp decline in the country's credit currency.

Protests have called for the removal of President Nana Akufo-Addo and the International Monetary Fund has pledged billions in a bailout.

This year's event is due to be the first ever African Para Games.
