The Asian University Sports Federation has elected a new Executive Committee in Dubai ©AUSF

China’s Liu Lixin has been elected as the new President of the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) at their General Assembly in Dubai.

Liu has been secretary general of the Federation of University Sports of China and is to lead the AUSF Executive Committee for a four-year term after delegates voted to reduce the term of office from six years.

Liu's Presidency will coincide with the World University Games in his home nation.

The Games in Chengdu, postponed from 2021, are now scheduled to open on July 28.

The AUSF senior vice-president for the next four years is Dorjsuren Jargalsaikhan, the AUSF vice-president and Mongolian Handball Federation President and co-author of a newly published book on the 30-year history of the federation.

Seetow Cheng Fave of Singapore, previously the AUSF treasurer, is to serve as secretary general.

Almuzaini Khalid, Professor of Exercise at King Saud University in Riyadh is joined as AUSF vice-president by FISU Executive Board member and long-time Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation official Tseng Ching Yu,

Delegates from 31 nations were joined by International University Sports Federation Acting President Leonz Eder who took part in a "strategic dialogue" with AUSF.

The Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation was formally approved as a member increasing the AUSF membership to 41 nations.
