Stiliana Nikolova of Bulgaria ended the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku in style.

The 17-year-old pipped reigning world champion Sofia Raffaeli in the all-round and added hoop, clubs and ribbon gold medals in the Azerbaijani capital.

In the all-round, Nikolova scored 133.800 to take the title on Saturday (April 22).

World champion Raffaeli settled for silver with 129.700 while Nikolova’s compatriot Eva Brezalieva, junior European medallist, won bronze with 126.300.

German Darja Varfolomeev with 124.900 and Takhmina Ikromova of Uzbekistan with 124.900 points completed the top-five.

In the hoop final, Nikolova scored 34.650, edging Raffaeli by 0.250 points.

It was Brezalieva who again finished with bronze after getting a score of 33.550.

The clubs event saw Nikolova take the title again with 34.150 while Ukrainian two-time Grand Prix gold medallist Viktoriia Onopriienko take silver with 32.650.

Varfolomeev was the bronze medal winner in the event with 32.550.

Moving on to ribbon, Nikolova who was a team European champion in Tel Aviv last year, edged compatriot Brezalieva by scoring 31.100.

Ikromova finished third with 30.950.

It could have been a perfect weekend for the Birmingham 2022 World Games clubs gold medallist Nikolova but a dropped ball which rolled out of bounds meant that Varfolomeev took the gold medal with 33.150.

Brezalieva settled for silver in 32.950 while Ikromova got bronze with 31.800.

The 5 hoops and the 3 ribbons + 2 balls events belonged to Israel who managed 34.950 and 33.100 points respectively.

After four World Cups this year so far, Bulgaria is leading the overall charts with 10 gold, five silver and four bronze medals.

Italy is second with 9 gold, six silver and two bronze medals while the third spot is occupied by Israel with four gold and six silver medals.

The World Cup circuit is moving on to Milan, where the tournament is scheduled to ne held from July 21 to 23.
