Two-time World Championships bronze medallist Erik Mobärg of Sweden and Swiss Olympic bronze medallist Fanny Smith topped the men's and women's qualification respectively, at the final leg of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Ski Cross World Cup in Craigleith, Canada.

Mobärg topped the charts with a time of 47.23sec, followed by Marc Bischofberger of Switzerland and Florian Wilmsmann of Germany.

Bischofberger managed to clock second in 47.27 while Wilmsmann crossed the line in 47.29.

The men's Crystal Globe is still up for grabs with home favourite Reece Howden topping the charts on 596 points.

However, today's topper Mobärg is second, only 57 points behind.

Wilmsmann is third, far behind the top tow on 378.

Howden did not manage the form that he would have hoped for, finishing ninth today on 47.63.

Among women, with Sweden's Sandra Näslund already claiming the women's Crystal Globe before the final, the race for the top three is something to look forward to.

Näslund has more than 300 points compared to Smith, who is second overall with 541.

Smith started the day well, clocking 49.90.

In second was Marielle Berger Sabbatel of France, with a timing of 50.21.

She is tenth overall and is not in the race for the top three this season.

That will be a battle between Smith and home athlete Marielle Thompson.

Thompson finished seventh today, with a  timing of 50.47.

The third best in qualification went to Thompson's compatriot Hannah Schmidt, who crossed the line in 50.24.

Both men's and women's medal races are scheduled for tomorrow.
