The Slovenian Olympic champion picked up his first triumph in this year's International Cycling Union (UCI) World Tour in Italy after winning the fourth, fifth, and sixth stages.

He finished with a total time of 28hours 38min and 57sec in Italy to beat second-placed João Almeida of Portugal who was 18sec off the pace.

Giro d'Italia 2020 general classification winner Tao Geoghegan Hart of Britain made up the top three, 23sec off Roglič's time.

The 24-year-old Almeida won the young rider classification and helped his side, UAE Team Emirates, win the team classification while Roglič also triumphed in the points classification.

"It's nice to get back to racing like this," Roglič said.

"I enjoyed the whole week.

"My teammates went very fast.

"I expected to suffer more.

"Winning when it's unexpected is even better.

"It's an important victory also in view of the Giro d'Italia".

Jasper Philipsen won the final stage of the event, a 154-kilometres flat stage after hilly, mountainous, and intermediate stages.

It was the second stage the Belgian won following another sprint victory on the third day from Follonica to Foligno over 216km.

The wins have put him into the contender conversation for the Milan-San Remo event on March 18.

The one-day race is the next stop on the UCI World Tour and sees riders remain in Italy.

"We managed to be in the best position with the team and then I just rode as fast as possible until the finish line," Philipsen said.

"Mathieu did a great leadout again.

"I am very happy of my Tirreno-Adriatico and I hope to be in the best shape for the upcoming races."
