Emily Harrop and Thibault Anselmet delivered mixed relay gold for France on the final day of the International Ski Mountaineering Federation World Championships in Boí Taüll.

It was a tense tussle for top spot with the French duo emerging victorious in a time of 26min 46.5sec in the Spanish resort.

Anselmet held a slight lead when Harrop handed over the baton to her French team-mate.

Axelle Gachet-Mollaret and Robin Galindo closed the gap on their compatriots, while two Spanish teams also came into contention.

It was a thrilling final round as Iñigo Martinez de Albornoz of Spain edged ahead only to be overtaken by Galindo.

Anselmet then put himself back in front before holding on for a dramatic victory.

"Me and Thibault, we went a little bit too hard in the first loop, and I felt it in the second one," said Harrop, who finishes the competition with two golds and a bronze.

"However, Thibault saved a bit of energy for the second uphill, and in the section on foot, he accelerated and decided the race.

"I'm relieved we did well with Thibault, as I had to sacrifice the Individual to be in shape for the relay.

"I'm very happy about the whole week."

Nicolo Ernesto Canclini and Giulia Murada of Italy were in fourth position, 23 seconds behind second place at the halfway point before coming back to clinch silver in 26:56.8.

Gachet-Mollaret and Galindo battled hard to ensure a second French team on the podium, claiming bronze in 26:58.8.

The youth mixed title was won by Thibe Deseyn and Jon Kistler of Switzerland in 29:45.9.

Louise Trincaz and Jeremy Anselmet of France crossed the finish line in 30:33.9 for silver, while the bronze medal went to Lea Ancion Havet and Oriol Olm Rouppert of Andorra in 30:56.8.

"It feels great to end the Championships like this," said Kistler.

"I knew that the Chinese girls are super strong, but the boys are not at the same level.

"I had a gap, I closed it very fast, and then I tried to build as much gap as possible.

"In the second lap I tried to increase to lead and in the final part to control the downhill and to avoid mistakes."
