The 17th edition of the men's Strade Bianche Crédit Agricole saw Pidcock complete the 184 kilometres race in 4 hours 31:31min.

Frenchman Valentin Madouas of Groupama–FDJ finished second 20sec later while third place went to Belgian Tiesj Benoot of Jumbo-Visma, who clocked 4:31:53.

Pidcock, the first Briton to win the Tuscan race, came out on top of a series of attacks from 45km, to take the victory in Seina.

"It will take some time for this victory to sink in," Pidcock said.

"When I went, it was not the plan.

"But it was at normally decisive moment.

"I got a gap and I carried on.

"Honestly this week I had the feeling that something big was gonna happen today and it did."

Meanwhile, the ninth edition of the women's Strade Bianche Crédit Agricole saw Vollering cruise to victory in 3:50:35.

She battled Team SD Worx teammate Lotte Kopecky of Belgium in an exiting sprint finish in Piazza del Campo, Siena.

Kopecky, a four-time World Championships gold medallist, clocked the same time while bronze went to Kristen Faulkner of the United States, riding for Team Jayco AlUla.

Faulkner crossed the line 18sec after Vollering.

"It might be a surprise for Lotte that I won but it made it a very exciting finale I think," Vollering said.

"I’ve always worked for my team mates at this race before so it means a lot for me to win it today."
