Ebba Andersson won the cross-country skiing gold and Jarl Magnus Riiber secured the Nordic combined title at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation Nordic Skiing World Championships in Planica.

Andersson of Sweden added the women's 30 kilometres cross-country mass start title to her gold in the skiathlon event earlier in the Championships, as she won a fourth medal of Planica 2023, having also taken two bronzes.   

Andersson broke away from the field at the 12km mark and won by just under a minute as she took the title in 1hr 22min 18.0sec.

Anne Kjersti Kalvaa of Norway took silver thanks to a successful acceleration in the final part of the last climb, finishing in 1:23.11.0.

Tour de Ski champion Frida Karlsson of Sweden completed the podium 1.2 seconds behind in third place, finishing in 1:23.12.2.

Also in Planica today the final Nordic combined medals were handed out, with Norway’s Jarl Magnus Riiber winning the individual large hill event as he took a fourth gold medal of the Championships.

Riiber had already triumphed in the individual normal hill, mixed team and team competitions and gave himself a good platform for more success as in the ski jumping element he broke the hill record with 147 metres, registering 152.6 points.

Japan’s Ryota Yamamoto placed second after the ski jumping phase, with a jump of 140 metres earning him 143.7 points.

Third place after the ski jumping went to Kristjan Ilves of Estonia, with a jump of 139.5 metres gaining him 137.0 points.

Riiber started the 10km cross-country race with a 36 second advantage and won it by more than a minute in a time of 23:42.6.

Strong skiers Jens Luraas Oftebro of Norway and Johannes Lamparter of Austria broke away from a group that were behind Riiber, with Oftebro securing a one-two for Norway as he finished in 24:44.0.

The podium was completed by defending champion in the event Lamparter in a time of 24:47.3.

In the men's team ski jumping event, Slovenia placed first.

The team of Lovro Kos, Žiga Jelar, Timi Zajc and Anže Lanišek scored 1178.9 points for the title. 

Norway and Australia got silver and bronze after scoring 1166 and 1139.4 points respectively.
