Four from the victorious Australian team have been chosen in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women's T20 World Cup team of the tournament.

Player of the tournament Ashleigh Gardner contributed a vibrant 29 and took the vital wicket of South African star Marizanne Kapp in Australia's 19-run final win in Cape Town on Sunday.

Gardner is joined by wicket keeper Alyssa Healy, who struck 189 runs across the competition and was involved in two run outs in the final. 

Bowler Megan Schutt who took ten wickets at a cost of only 12.50 each and Darcie Brown who finished with seven are also included.

Brown had an economy rate of five and bowled 78 dot balls through the course of the tournament.

England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt was named as captain of the side,

She struck 216 runs at an average to give her the highest batting average of the tournament, 72.00, as England reached the semi-final.

Host nation South Africa provided the leading run scorer Laura Wolvaardt, who made 230 runs and top scored for South Africa in the final with 61.

She hit 22 boundaries and five sixes, more than any other player.

Wolvaardt is joined by South African compatriot Tazmin Brits, who scored back to back half centuries in the tournament.

Shabnim Ismail is the third South African in the line-up.

Ismail took eight wickets and also produced the fastest ball of the tournament in South Africa's semi final victory against England, a delivery timed at 128 kilometres per hour, believed to be a speed record for women's cricket.

She also bowled three maiden overs, the best of any bowler in the competition.

England's slow left armer Sophie Ecclestone finished as the highest wicket taker of the tournament with 11 victims. 

She took at least one wicket in every game with a best of 3 for 13 against Ireland.

West Indies' Trinidadian off spinner Karishma Ramharack has been selected for her impressive economy rate of 10.00. 

Her five wickets across three games included  best figures of two for 14 against India. 

India's Richa Gosh proved hard to dismiss and ended with a batting average of 68.00 as India progressed to the semi-final.

Ireland's Orla Predergast is named as twelfth player after an impressive debut tournament in which she scored 109 runs and took three wickets.
