Chile is set to begin preparations for this year's Pan American Games men's rugby sevens tournament in Santiago with appearances on the World Rugby Sevens Series.

The Cóndores are due to take part as an invitational team at the Los Angeles and Vancouver stops this year, prior to Chile's hosting of the Games from October 20 to November 5.

The Californian event is due to begin tomorrow and end on Sunday (February 26).

Chile face a tough test in Pool A at the Dignity Health Sports Park as they have been drawn alongside New Zealand, Samoa and hosts the United States.

Joaquín Todeschini's side will kick off their campaign against the Series-leading All Blacks Sevens team.

They will go to the US with confidence, however, after drawing with South Africa and beating France during their last Series trip to the country in Las Vegas.

Vancouver then awaits, with competition scheduled to take place from March 3 to 5, although the draw is yet to be made for the event.

Chile came close to securing core team status at last year's World Rugby Challenger Sevens Series as they lost to Georgia in the semi-finals before winning the third-place playoff for the bronze medal.

Rugby sevens at Santiago 2023 is due to be contested from November 3 to 4 at the Municipal Stadium of La Pintana, home to Super Rugby Americas side Selknam.

The men's competition will see Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Canada, the US, Jamaica and Mexico go head-to-head.

The women's line-up is the same apart from Paraguay and Colombia replace Argentina and Uruguay as qualifiers from the 2022 South American Games.

Chile's men competed in the Vancouver and Edmonton events in the 2021 World Rugby Sevens Series where they finished 11th and ninth, respectively.

They also achieved a 13th-placed finish at last year's World Cup in South Africa.
