With the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games only months away, the Chinese men's football team has ramped up preparations.

A total of 10 matches have been scheduled in February and March for the host nation to get ready for the multi-sport event.

It will also be the first assignment for head coach Aleksandar Jankovic of Serbia, who was appointed two weeks ago.

Jankovic was at the helm during a training camp that was held in in Foshan, in the Guangdong province, from February 4 to 14, according to the Chinese Football Association (CFA).

A total of 23 players attended the camp under Jankovic, who has previously coached a Chinese side at the East Asian Football Championship held in Japan last July.

The team has departed for Dubai "to play more high-quality games" and will pay eight games there before going to New Zealand to play two more.

"We had two training sessions every day from Monday to Saturday," an unnamed Chinese player was quoted as saying by the CFA.

"Only on Sunday afternoon, we had a rest."

South Korea are the most-successful men's football team at the Asian Games, having won five gold medals.

China have never manged to win the tournament, with their best result being a silver at Hiroshima 1994.

The 2022 Asian Games, postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is scheduled to be held from September 23 to October 8.
