Gachet Mollaret picked up her 11th World Cup win in a row in Val Martello in Italy with a leading time of 1hr 39min 13sec among the 33-strong field.

Her compatriot Emily Harrop was next across the line, exactly 30 second later, after 1:39:43 while Italy's Giulia Murada rounded out the top three with 1:43:05 on the clock.

Another one-two took place in the men's event except this time it was the Italians on top.

Eydallin's time of 1:31:12 gave him a slender five-second victory over Robert Antonioli.

France's Xavier Gachet was unable to take gold alongside his wife but settled for bronze as he clocked in after 1:31:36.

He did manage to prevent an Italian podium sweep, however, as Nadir Maguet finished fourth 21 seconds outside of the podium.

The results mean that Gachet Mollaret has extended her lead atop the women's World Cup individual standings with a perfect 500.

Murada follows behind on 408 while fellow Italian Alba De Silvestro is third on 373 after her fourth-place finish today.

In the men's rankings, Antonioli now leads with 385 points ahead of Eydallin on 374 and Frenchman Thibault Anselmet's 358.

The action is set to continue on Saturday (February 18) with the mixed relay race.

The following day will see athletes contest for the sprint race gold medals in the final races of the World Cup leg.
