The North Carolina 2029 Organising Committee has launched its official website this month.

The American state of North Carolina was awarded the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Summer World University Games for 2029 during Lake Placid 2023 Winter World University Games last month.

"Now that the 2029 FISU World University Games are committed to come to North Carolina and the United States, it is time to share that information with the world!" a statement from North Carolina 2029 read.

"Towards that end, we have developed a new website to help get the 2029 Games out of the blocks.

"On the new website, you will see familiar information that has been updated and repurposed, but also new info about the Games."

"Going forward there will be a continuous cycle of adding new content and enhancing the site, as we head towards the biggest event in North Carolina history."

North Carolina initially wanted to host the 2027 edition but missed out to Chungcheong Megacity.

The state was instead given the Games in six years' time after a bid led by Hill Carrow won the hosting rights after a 21-0 vote before Lake Placid 2023 Winter World University Games started.

North Carolina is home to several renowned sporting and research institutions, including Duke University, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina.

Buffalo was the last state in the US to host the Summer World University Games in 1993.
