Organisers of the next Games, led by Paris 2024 President and three-time Olympic canoeing champion Tony Estanguet, have created a concept which would bring the Opening Ceremony outside of the stadium, with athletes travelling down the River Seine.

The opening of the Games has traditionally stayed in the stadium, but this could attract as much as 600,000 spectators - creating a unique style for Paris, but also a unique issue with security.

Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin previously said he would like 30,000 security officials mobilised every day during the Games, suggesting this would rise to 35,000 for the Opening Ceremony.

In July, concerns were raised about an insufficient number of available police officers over the six-kilometre route along the Seine between Pont d'Austerlitz and Pont d'Iena.

Seats on the platforms are to go for between €90 (£79/$96) and €2,700 (£2,400/$2,900), according to Le Parisien when speaking to Paris 2024.

The VIP stand begins with prices of €5,500 (£4,900/$5,900) on the floor, with the highest prices allowing a rare few to see the sports delegations up close on the Seine from a cruise ship.

According to Paris 2024, the prices were determined "after extensive market research with potential customers". 

The Paris 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony is scheduled to take place on July 26 2024.
