Le Graët criticised the Albiceleste players after they clinched Argentina's third trophy from the tournament with a penalty shootout triumph.

"I wrote a letter to my counterpart from the Argentine Federation, I find these excesses abnormal, in the context of a sports competition, and I find it difficult to understand," he said to Ouest-France.

"This is going too far.

"[Kylian] Mbappé's behaviour was exemplary."

Argentina's goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez had mocked Mbappé, who scored three goals in the match before converting his spot kick in the shootout, in the dressing room by shouting, "A minute silence… for Mbappé who died!".

During the trophy parade, Martínez was then spotted holding a doll with Mbappé's face on it while a group of supporters set fire to cardboard decorated like a coffin with a photo of the Paris Saint-Germain player on.

"I find it pitiful," said Oudéa-Castéra, as reported by RTL.

"As much as our France team was able to lose with panache, the way this Argentine team acted after this victory was not worthy of the match we saw.

"It's just vulgar, inappropriate, really not up to the challenge," she continued, saying it was the behaviour of "inelegant winners".

Former Argentina striker Sergio Agüero also insulted 20-year-old Eduardo Camavinga, saying, "For Camavinga, that dickhead."

It is unclear what prompted him to target the Real Madrid player although it may have been a case of wordplay as his name rhymes with the expletive, cara de pinga, in Spanish.

French Minister of the Economy, Finance and Recovery Bruno Le Maire also weighed in and said the Argentina players were "unworthy" of victory.

"What is FIFA doing?" he said.

"Sport is fair play, it is respect for others, it is respect for the one who has lost, we are not going to add insult to disappointment."
