John Lisko has been named external managing director of the International Paralympic Committee’s (IPC) global media rights.

He is also the communications lead for British advertising agency Saatchi and Saatchi and the principal of consulting firm LISKO LLC.

Lisko has more than three decades of experience in the strategy and marketing communications industry.

"I am honoured to support the IPC Team and do the work to elevate global visibility of the Paralympic Movement, the Paralympic Games and PARA SPORT," LISKO said.

"This is a remarkable opportunity for me and LISKO LLC to engage the world in new and truly meaningful ways."

He has also worked with Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota to increase its brand awareness in the United States.

Toyota is one of the companies on the Olympic Partner (TOP) programme and since 2016, Lisko was co-lead of the Japanese company’s worldwide mobility partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the IPC.

With special focus on the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, Lisko will work on increasing the reach of IPC’s television and media rights.

LISKO LLC is scheduled to begin working on its brief for the IPC early next year.

IPC chief executive Mike Peters expressed his excitement about the opportunity to work with LISKO LLC and Lisko.

"He is a proven, purpose-driven senior executive leader with a vast knowledge of sport, the ever-changing media landscape, and securing and leading multi-million dollar rights agreements," Peters said.  

"His work for Toyota speaks for itself.

"Through LISKO LLC’s appointment we want to further leverage the value and reach of our TV and digital properties, working with existing rights holders and developing new partnerships.

"In particular, the LA28 Paralympic Games are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Paralympic Movement to make a major breakthrough in the US market and with John’s expertise and know-how, we intend to do just that."
