World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue said he has "no doubt" that the upcoming World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final in Riyadh will be a success.

The season-ending event in the Saudi Arabian capital will take place over three days from December 8 to 10 with a number of Olympic and world champions expected to be among those taking part.

More than 120 athletes from 40 countries - plus the refugee team - are aiming to attend in all.

It will be the first Grand Prix event ever held in Saudi Arabia, with bouts due to take place at the Green Halls venue which staged the World Taekwondo Women's Open Championships in November last year.

"I have no doubt that the Grand Prix Finals will be a resounding success," said Choue.

"Saudi Arabia is emerging as one of the most popular destinations for top-tier sport events, and we are delighted that the Kingdom will host not only its first-ever Grand Prix Finals, but its first Grand Prix event of any kind.

"We are very excited to welcome the world's best taekwondo athletes to Riyadh where they can again capture the world's attention with their exceptional skill and excellence."

The event will run alongside the World Taekwondo Gala Awards on December 10, where athletes, coaches, member associations and referees are due to be honoured.
