Fahda Al-Sulaiman put 24 points on the board to guide Jeddah United to the women's basketball title following a 50-41 victory against Al-Wehda at the Saudi Games in Riyadh.

Both teams entered the final with confidence having gone the competition unbeaten and this was on full display once the teams got over a slow start.

Al-Wehda's troubles from the field meant Jeddah were afforded the opportunity to go 15-9 in the second quarter.

Then, they flipped a switch and sprung into life, making back-to-back buckets to reduce the deficit.

Jeddah, who were under pressure to respond, did so and made it 17-13 on the court inside Al-Hilal Football Club.

Al-Wehda continued to find form and entered a brief lead, but Jeddah were not letting their opponents get a firm grip and they matched them bucket-for-bucket.

Proceedings were delicately balanced 23-22 in favour of Jeddah at half-time.

In the third quarter, Al-Wehda continued to turn the tide and their supporters bounced in the stands as they entered took a 27-23 advantage thanks to a three-pointer.

As the teams grappled, Al-Wehda sought to pull away but Jeddah refused to let it happen.

Jeddah tied the match 38-38 and decisively never looked back.

They then knocked down shots on one side and baskets dried up on the other end for Al-Wehda; with the score finishing 50-41.

In the bronze-medal match, Kawthar Khayat recorded a 14-point and 10-assist double-double to help Al-Nassr to a cruising 55-37 win against Al-Ittihad.

Saad Al-Baqami topped scored for the winners on 18 points while Jan Balghaith tallied 13 for Al-Ittihad to finish as her team's most effective bucket getter.
